Marilyn Adams UE, 1934-1990Marilyn Adams U.E.

Gladys Marilyn Adams U.E. was born 3 August 1934 and died 29 May 1990. She was the 4th great granddaughter of John Weese U.E., the first permanent settler of the Township of Ameliasburgh, and perhaps also of  Prince Edward County.

Marilyn was educated in Rednersville & Belleville; she then attended Peterborough Teachers' College. Her 35 year teaching career was spent at several schools in Oshawa. During this time she earned her BA from Queen's University, Kingston.

Following Marilyn's retirement in 1989, she became active with 7th Town Historical Society, Ameliasburgh. Although her volunteer time was short, through her philanthropy she had a profound influence on the future direction of the Society.

When Marilyn died in May of 1990, she left her estate to 7th Town Historical Society to create a genealogical research centre, now known as the Marilyn Adams Genealogical Research Centre.
